I have a 6070 and she runs good, however she screams really loud I wear ear plugs when I use her. I was wondering if any one ever had a problem like this ? It is turbo charged, however I don't think it's the problem. I also have changed all filters and all oils. It doesn't change pitch when it's running . It doesn't affect the performance however it's very annoying.
Thanks

Loose baffles in the muffler? maybe

The universal answer to all questions is yes, how much do you want to spend?

If it is just making a high pitched whistling noise that is just your turbo. Other than that you may have an exhaust leak (hole in a pipe). Check your exhaust system and if you can't see any cracks or holes you may try finding a muffler to put on it.

Ok good ideas, I'll check. It sounds more like an old two cycle detroit winding out.
Since I'm new to this site what does it mean when you have points? Thanks

It just shows how many posts you have made and it counts all the times that you have been thanked and etc. Hey, welcome to the AC forum. My name is Jeremy and I will try to help you whenever I can. About everyone else on here knows more than me but I am slowly getting my facts straight. Here we go the extra mile to treat everyone like family and that is what keeps me coming back to this site. Good luck and thanks for keeping the orange alive.

I have a 200 that used to have a high pitched sound to it. My mechanic friend reset the injector opening pressures to the factory spec and the engine then had more of the diesel engine "bark" than a scream. I can't recall if we had to raise or lower the opening pressures. Dan

The 6000 series exhaust manifolds were known to crack, don't know if they are still available or not.
