While looking for parts for one of my B engines I noticed that they shared some lower end parts with the d series engines, and I was wondering if the cylinder sleeves are interchangeable, or any other parts to up the power on a b for pulling. Thanks, Denis |

You can put a 138/149/160 crank in your b block, but it will require a lot of machine work to do so. Would be cheaper to just used a d series motor on your tractor. Jamie

Dick L is the guy to ask. Seems like he stuffed a 160 crank in a 125 block. Definitely easier to use the D series block, but if you're dealing with pulling clubs that D.Q. non original blocks, that would be the way to go.

The D series sleeves are first a larger diameter and your B block would have to be bored out larger to slide down in place. Second the D series sleeves do not have the o ring grooves. The o ring grooves are in the block.
The rods will fit but do not have the holes to oil the rod bearings.
The crankshaft has larger main journals and have to be first machined and then ground to fit.
The camshaft will seem to fit but does not have the small holes to spray oil on the rods.
If you are not trying to hide the extra horse power it would be best to use the D series complete engine rather than to spend a bunch of money that could be used to buy apple pies that would last a life time.
