 Topic: Allis B - Adjustable wide front

I have a few questions;
How many adjustable wide front B's were made?, What years were they made? And how do you tell if its a pre/post war B?
I'm looking at a 1940 adjustable wide front B, is the reason I'm asking.

They were available in arched and straight adjustable fronts in all years, according to the book the straight axles started in 1940 but I think the arched might have still been available, not sure. Don't know of a pre/post war difference.

I have two B's, a 1938 that has been redone professionally that has a straight adjustable front as well as a 1940 with a straight adjustable front. The '40 appears to be original, I can't say whether the '38 is original, though I doubt it, since most came with the wishbone front. The early wishbone adjustable fronts had a bar that extended through a hole in the wishbone that could be locked in place with clamps on either side. I have only seen one of this type, so I might be wrong about how it is adjusted.

The AC Parts Books indicate they made both the Arched Adjustable and The Tall Straight Adjustable each in two different widths. Wide and wider. I have only seen a photo of one wide, 50" to 60", version of the Arched Adjustable on this forum. Narrow ones are pretty common. They adjust 38" to 48"
The early tall straight adjustables, prior to 42 were adjustable 38" to 60". 42 and up were 40" to 65". I presume to be used with the flanged axle final drives and C reversable hubs. I'm not real sure of when the B with the flanged axle went into production. Most all of them you see are post war Bs of 50 and up vintage.
It is pretty easy to swap out the front axle assemblies and final drives and any B. You have to remember this when sombody says their 38 B has a wide version of a straight adjustable axle. Transmissions and engines swap out easy too.

Thats what I was wondering, if the adjustable wide front was original to the 1940 B, I'm debating to swap out my arched front end on my 48 for this one, or keep the 40 as is.
