Could someone tell me the number for a fan belt for a non generator B. My friend needs to replace his and he can use either the old AC or the newer Agco number for cross reference. Thank you in advance!!

So if it's non generator, is it hand crank or converted to 12 volts?

I don't know the number off the top of my head, but I got mine from NAPA. I remember looking it up on their website - that would give you a number. Can't remember if it's Gates or not but it worked.

My other brother Darrell is looking for help on the part number of the belt. It is hand crank, does not have a distributor, has a mag, and has an automtive belt that is too narrow and bottoms out in the pulleys. He was a parts man in a White dealership at Remington, In. from 78 to 1983, when White pulled a lot of franchises, causing him and his three partners to cease business. They sold the dealership to the local NAPA and he went to work there until 2010, and still works there part time as vacation relief for three of their stores. He hasn't been able to find a belt that is similar. It needs to be about 7/8ths of an inch wide and is not sure what the length should be. This is the reason for asking if anyone knows a part number.

I just went through the Gates site and it only shows a fan and generator belt. I searched for 38 Allis Chalmers B and I let them know it doesn't have a generator. Doubt I will hear back from them.

He would prefer a number because he gets employee discount at the NAPA stores. He just has not come up with anything in the belt lines available yet.

Come on guys! Here I bragged to him that nothing was impossible on the forum page, and you're making me look like the idiot I usually am!(Hence my handle!) I haven't looked at the B, but I do remember those old flat belts, but they were usually on like F-20,30's. Boy! there is still a lot to learn about Allis Chalmers. I'm constantly amazed at what is collectively known on this web site. I painted his Moline Z and when we were doing it I told him he would have to know which shade of Prairie Gold etc, because I wasn't smart enough to know Moline along with learning Allis'. He also has a WD-45 LP with rear mounted tank, factory power steering, and wide front. Another friend spent most of a winter taking it apart fixing this and that and getting it back together and pretty! It is a work of art and we all are proud of it! It would look right in anybodys show! Altogether he has a Coop E-3, Z and U, and a 445 Moline, the 45, and a 180 gas with Loader. These were the models of tractors that he farmed with. All he needs is a 5 Star, and 670 moline and a John Deere G. I didn't want to say that last one out loud! LOL!

Dipstick,I have a CA that I changed from a 6V generator to a 12V GM alternator.I used the pulley from the original gen. I am also using the same belt that the gen.used to run that alt. The part # is NAPA SL370 W 6EET This might get you in the ball park to the size.Let me know if this helps.

This is one of those things that would be nice to archive the answer to and list by model of tractor in a FAQ page. If I ever got around to building a website this is one thing I would try to incorporate in to it.

From the NAPA website: NBH 2522322
I used a 1939 Allis Chalmers B as my vehicle and searched for "belt" but plug the part number in and it comes right up. I knew it was on their website but you just have to look.
