Where to place jack on C?

This will probably rank as one of the dumbest questions but-I am going to remove the front tires on my C to paint it and am not really sure where to place a jack and support the front while painting without damaging something. Can I jack it up just in front of the oil pan or will I bend the edge of the pan?
Everything is impossible until someone does it! WD45-trip loader 1947 c w/woods belly mower, 1939 B, #3 sickle mower 1944 B, 2 1948 G's. Misc other equipment that my wife calls JUNK!

Assuming its a narrow front and if you want to do one at a time, the easy way is to drive one tire up on  a piece of 2 X 4 which will raise the other tire off the ground.
I would jack under the bellhousing portion of the torque tube to raise the front end if it were mine.

I use a 2x4 with a 1 in hole drilled right over the drain plug. the front of a C is not that heavy, so I've never worried about banding anything.

It is a narrow front. Dave you put the 2x4 right under the oil pan and don't worry about anything bending?

I made a small horse for working on my B. A C will be the same. I put the horse under the bell housing, and it holds the front a few inches off the ground (as said above, this will support the front end) I also put it under the transmission to hold the rear a few inches off the ground. Under either final drive, it holds one side or the other a few inches off the ground. Spend an hour and a few pieces of lumber, and you can work SAFE. I'm way too old to have bad things happen.

You can jack on the oil pan without any damage. I normally jack from the lobe under the torque tube bell housing. Either one will work fine. I use a board of some kind or small size between the jack and tractor.

your not going to bend that oil pan jacking on it. the oil pan is very strong. it supors the block in carring the load from the front end to the torque tube.  If Im going to be working on it I use 6x6's for cribing and suport under the oil pan. you can also jack up under the bottom of the bellhousing. just be sure you supore with something wide enought so it won't tip or move. If I'm spliting then I use a cherry picker attached to the rocker arm cover bolts. that is the correct way to lift the engine. of course the hood needs to be off for that.
