I am working on a wd45d.I have the pinion gear out of the differential.when i took it apart, the bushings that go on the pinion shaft in the transmission have these very small holes with what looks like a small rivet in them. What is their purpose? Of course I dropped one into the bottom of the transmission.

The pins are to keep the bushing pined to shaft. They keep the bushings from spinning on shaft. MACK
