on my XT. What is the middle number for? I see model 2900 and I see the last one is engine serial no. but don't know what the mid no. is. Thanks y'all.

Thats the   "engine catalog number".    Allis Chalmers sold complete engines for irrigation, gen sets and other things,  that was the number for the complete engine.  HTH

For example, the tractor engine had a hydraulic pump drive and center sump oil pan and eng oil cooler. If it was in a wheel-loader, it may have had an extra oil cooler for the torque converter and an air compressor. If in a Gleaner combine, no provision for even mounting a hyd pump or air compressor.
