Let's start with a question to you......how much money do you want to spend???..because that's ultimately what it boils down to.

got about 1000 to spend on parts. my work has a machine shop so i can get a good deal there. just want to get good power out of it, but make it so it still looks stock, so i can run in the stock class. |

thats not really a budget to do any performance upgrades with other than a thorough rebuild. wd45 crank wd45 power crater pistons leave the first compression ring off on a 8 inch rod . If you have any money left buy a bigger carb a moline g carb and a good ignition system to light the plugs . Oh youll need 40 dollars or so of race gas every pull you attend. .

Use a WD45 crank, manifold, aircleaner, & carburator. Have a good machine shop surface your head & give it a proper valve job. Use 41/8" sleeves & 175 replacement "Power Crater" pistons with your WD connecting rods. Either a mag or distributor will work fine. For a "stock appearing" & sounding setup this will make a competitive puller in a stock un-cut tire class that will run great on regular gas. Stock WD45s always do well in these classes! |

yes you need a different cam . are you going to use 8 inch rods? if not use your wd pistons with the 45 crank.
