Installed a new generator on the D17 tonight, along with a new battery cable. Positive ground, newer charged battery. I attached the wires to the generator, attached the battery cable, then with a jumper wire touched the gen terminal to the battery post to polarize it. The generator started to smoke so I quickly unhooked it. What have I done wrong here...?
