Hey all, still working on the tractor and picker when I can. Seems like I have been to busy to work on it much lately, training and other events at work leave me tired at the end of the day, and I don't feel like heading to the shop when I get home much.
Tonight I did go out and take the seal plate off the PTO housing to replace a gasket. I thought while I was out there I might as well put the hood back on, and the side panels along with the mesh screen on the front. I just used tape on the front, I need to locate the metal bands that are used to hold it into place. Also, I am looking for the correct air cleaner cap, the cap with the screen mesh around the bottom of it. I would like an original if possible.
Heres the "before" picture...
![]() And after....
![]() Notice I did manage to get the blower mounted on this side, I wanted to know if it would have enough clearance for the voltage regulator I put on.
![]() Something interesting, a part of this whole kit to set up your tractor for corn picking, included a "lead sediment bowl". I thought this was kind of cool, I have not put it on yet.
![]() And last, the shop dog "Pudge" stayed in one spot long enough for a picture. He usually comes around to investigate while I am under the tractor working on something. He is pretty good at dropping his ball into the floor drain! I had to retrieve it tonight for him! Go figure! Me retrieving for him, who is the smart one now? Dog or owner? haha

I don't see the tabs/brackets on the sides near the front to locate the front snout, or were the changed or eliminated later?
The fuel filter is Non-breakable.
Corn stalks and ears flying around a breakable fuel filter would not be a good scenario -and all the dry corn in a field, don't want to go there. Edited by JoeO(CMO) - 20 Dec 2010 at 6:36pm |

The reason for the sediment bowl of lead, supposedly is to prevent small rocks, or other corn chaff from hitting a glass bowl and breaking it.
Joe, I haven't put the tabs on the side rails for the front snout yet, but getting closer!

I've got a pre-cleaner that you need for the air intake. If your interetsed pm me and I'll get you a picture of it to see if it's correct. Looking good. Dad has a picker that I'd like to mount and take to Old Threshers in Mt Pleasant.

Thanks for the info and pictures Don. You know, on my dad's 45 diesel, it had a lead sediment bowl on it. When I got a new one to replace the old one as the shutfoff valve leaked, the new one was glass, and I never thought anything of it. But now that you mention why it was put on a picker tractor, my dad's tractor used to have a New Idea picker/sheller on it back in the day.
