I am not a farmer, but I have been helping a friend (Mike) get his cotton in and he let me run the 880 AC cotton stripper for a bit.
I enjoyed it.
sorry about the green..... Edited by Gary in Texas - 03 Dec 2010 at 6:41am |

I have two 880's but they have the stripper (broadcast) heads. I haven't ran them in a couple of years but they did a very good job and I will run them again if I decide to plant any cotton. Notice how there is no cotton left in the field behind them. They have a Continental gin stand that deburrs the cotton off the boll, and not a lot of expense to keep up, unlike they pickers. I have wanted to run behind the JD pickers with them just to show them how to clean up a field.

The one in the photo is a 1982 model 880. with a 433I turbo for power.
Mike has a mostly complete one for spare parts. But gets most parts he needs from an AGCO dealer in Vernon Texas. He has a 1977 model 680 that has not been used in several years with the broadcast header on it.
