I went to change the air filter in my d17 and after I removed the screw/bolt the piece covering the air filter fell apart. It seems like a cloth type material not really sure what it is. Anyone know of a place to get a replacement for this.

Not available anywhere, but not really a problem.  Any air that comes in still passes through the filter, so the engine is still getting clean air.

The idea was the material they made it out of sort of sealed the end of the filter/canister area to force air to enter thru the stack. Cooler and possibly cleaner air that way. You can make it out of what you want but a little flexible would be better function wise. A thin piece of rubber belting would work, and see if it can handle the underhood heat.

I bought a replacement from Agco about two years ago. It didn't really look like the original and was made out of a thin rubber material and basically just sealed the end. Ryan
