I bought a d17 about 3 years ago and it had a front mounted hydraulic pump. It blew out last week. I ordered a new pump and received it today. When taking the old pump off, I noticed the drive shaft that connects to the pump is smooth... it somehow was compressed just enough to run the pump. Not the case for the new pump. Does anyone know a contact to get a new hydraulic drive shaft for the front end?

Got a pump/hyd shop nearby? IIRR, the motor end is either 7/8" or 1" six spline, pumps vary on shaft sizes...  measure, write down sized take it to a pump shop or a machinist...

If I'm wrong on the size of the splined shaft, I'm sure someone will comment on the correct size...

A&W tractor has everything you could need for a front pump. Just a new shaft or a complete kit. 
If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits.

The end that goes into the chain coupler is smooth with a keyway. Tractor half and pump half. The end that goes into the crankshaft pulley is 6-spline .

Probably not applicable to this situation but we used these couplers in some installations when I worked in sawmill maintenance; the Ringfeder couplings were completely smooth with no keyway.

In order for the replacement parts to last, they must be properly aligned during installation!  To do this,  install and tighten the crank drive end and also the chain coupler, then make sure that the shaft on the chain coupler end has EQUAL amount of free play to each side of the crank coupler!   If not, remove parts and file or grind the mounting ears to get the needed free play to each side and up and down, then assemble and check, redo if needed.
If done properly, the drive will be good for many years(30 years on our AC15D).
If not done, only 1 or 2 years!
