   Did Allis make a deep sump pan for the 426- 3500 engine, construction, marine????

  looking for one for my puller, leery to fab, especially the pickup.

I'd say build one, how hard can it be? You could sleeve the extension for the pickup to add strength, same way it's done with exhausts.

Had one in a crawler loader. Probably deep sump. Where would you find one?

Bought a 301 - 2800 industrial years ago - painted yellow - and it had a deep sump - dual oil filters as in 2900 ... aluminum.. only one I have seen.

I would imagine cast aluminum that is 1/4" or more thick everywhere. Not aluminum sheet tin thickness.

   Good question, grasping at straws I guess.  Do you recall if the whole pan was deeper or just the center section?

The oil pans that house the crankshaft driven oil pump are some deeper and in the case of a 200-7000-7010-702 hold 4 gallons of oil at an oil change with filters.

If not mistaken the aluminum pan came off an Allis loader of some type - and yes it was thick, and weighed about same or more than the metal pan.  840 AC articulated maybe? 840 was 2800 940 was 2900 engine.

The other application that would've used a larger capacity pan... generating plants and big industrial stationary applications.  Outfits like Consolidated Diesel Electric would purchase prime movers and fit them with significantly more sump capacity for long-term continuous duty use.  A standard Hercules JXLD used in most applications (Example is the Oliver OC-12) is about 12 quarts.  The JXLD in my generating plant is 29 quarts...  if the Allis motor ended up in a stationary application, the big base/deep pan would not surprise me.

For what it's worth, when manufacturers made setups like that, the pan was frequently also made an integral part of the foundation-base of the prime mover...
Ten Amendments, Ten Commandments, and one Golden Rule solve most every problem. Citrus hand-cleaner with Pumice does the rest.

Constructioin Equipment ( large dozers and loaders) were "deisgned" to operate at a 45 degree angle without starving for oil... The oil pans had deep center sections so no matter what angle the engine was at, there was oil in the "deep section" of the pan.. And many were aluminum and i would guess they were 3/8 to 1/2 inch thick - cast aluminum.... saw a lot of them on the 21000 and 25000 engines.

Did M&W ever make a pan for Allis? They made them for IH and Deere. If you can find one for a 361/407 IH, them babies are pricy!

nope, they make one for the 4020 + because when they added the turbo - the oil over heated so they made a radiator out of the oil pan...

tbran, that is my understanding, green ones needed the bigger finned pan and Red ones didn't really. Not as many sold and now they are the 'cool' thing to have. Maybe the market for Allis wasn't big enough to tool up for?
