Been mulling over buying a D-12 and would appreciate your comments on this one. Looks original, series 2,says it runs great(only one fuzzzy picture...). I have 2 D-14s but would like a '3 pointed' tractor to use a 5'rototiller... Guy wants $3500 firm,but it comes with 2 bottom plow and rear blade(don't need them though...)

You need range transmission, the hitch to me is not a real strong one. They say that the snap cop. is a stronger hitch , but the whole lift arms set up to me is weak. I can talk about these tractors because I have a 10 and a 12.

For cons I was going to say that a D-14 is same size and a lot more tractor for (usually) a lot less money but I see you have two of them now, LOL. If the blade and plow are Allis and decent you should be able to get $7-800 back, there arent many 2 bottom A-C plows w/3 point hitch around.

First won't be slow enough for a rototiller. If it had the Range then it would be.

The D12 is a powerful little brute; basically the same engine as the D14. However, it's use is limited in that it does not have a power director like the D14. Agree with the others, don't think the D12 is a good choice for roto-tilling. Unless it is the later model with the live pto, I don't think it is a good choice for other pto drive implements. Have used my D12 to pull a 2X16 three point Dearborn plow, heavy 6' disk, 6' backblade, and 2 row corn planter and it has done great.

I agree with the comments. If you want a good working 3 pt tractor, you could look at picking up a complete 3 pt hitch assembly from a D-15 and installing it on one of your D-14. It would be a unique D-14!

Hay guys...thanks for the comments..looks like I'm best to buy/make a 3 point adapter for my D-14 and save a few coins. The 'bank' will be happy about that !!

Good raking and auger tractors for up to 8in augers a 10 in pushes it though.

Ford three point arms really beef up those three point hitches and they are close to the right size and length. I like the live hydraulics on my neighbors d-12. You have much better control of your implements and they work better with modern rams. His tractor is a series three with the range trans.

D10 and D12 steering linkage and lift setup always looked a bit light to me but they probably worked just fine. Similar to a CA. I have heard that without range transmission you will want more gear choices. I know the Japanese tractors that were matched to roto tillers had real low low gears for that purpose.
