I bought a seal and bearing kit PV741 for the final drive gear. The kit came with 3 seals that are much narrower than the Original. Can anyone help me with recommended installation configuration.

If you were to install the seals back to back does that come up close to the original dimension of the seal. Have heard of this being done before, but have no experience with that first hand.
Another approach would be to mic the seal and check with a bearing supply house - Motion Industries possibly? ~ Orangeman

Does any one have the thickness of the original seal?

So are you saying that the PV 741 kit has the wrong size seals within the kit that is offered?

If you are referring to the seal on the axle itself, there were seals that were about 3/4" or maybe 7/8" wide available but the parts book showed two seals put in beside each other that were 3/8" thick. Last one i did was unable to get the 3/4' wide seal and just used the narrower one. Makes no sense to me to put two seals beside each other by the time the inside one is own out the outside one has run with no lubrication for so long it is toast...been a couple decades since i did one of them!

Here is a good view or seal types - lip seals - and some places where garter spring is used . On 2 seals it can be where the lip seal is installed facing out as a EXCLUSION seal and the inner seal is installed to retain fluid from gear case . This is wher one can find a duel lip seal that offers both profiles within one product . If one knows how to spec seals from outside source . Same as using a speedy sleve to bring a worn shaft area into spec to run a new seal on and if a oversize /Undersize seal is needed |

The kit has the correct size seals. You just have to stack them to get obtain a two lip seal. I found a single seal that has 2 lips to use instead
