I'm changing the fluid in the finals. I don't have a master service manual, and my small final drive manual makes no mention of type and quantity of fluid. If I recall on my 7G, it was filled with gear oil up to a bit below the fill plug. That's been 10 years ago, so I need the right oil spec and approx. quantity needed. I'm all but ready to start pushing dirt. I'm sumping everything on this tractor, the humidity and rapid temp changes around here lately is dumping condensation in every system. Cheers.

Fill level is determined by filling the case from the 2 plugs in the extensions on back of case to proper level . Using a GL5 lube as there are timken bearings on all shafts and gears that run on bearings . I would use a lube higher than #90 wt - say 120 /140
Capacity - unsure without finding my book but same on HD 5 or HD 6 as they use same rear case .

Thanks, Coke. I'll fill it 'till I can see it in the 'filler tube'. I'll be using thick stuff 'cause my left final weeps 'a little'. Smile  It looks like it can hold several gallons...
