Would like to thank this forum for assistance on replacing starter ring gear.Sometime back, (maybe a long tome), it was mentioned to put flywheel in freezer and ring gear in oven. Took old ring gear off yesterday afternoon. Put in freezer around 4:00 PM yesterday.Put ring gear in oven at 500 degrees this morning. After about two hours got flywheel out of freezer. Took ring gear from oven and placed on flywheel.Had a block of wood and hammer laying by. Only took a minute or two to set ring gear completely on. Now am waiting on JB weld to set up in oil pump housing to reinstall it. Looks like that will also be a good fix for an often prone to leak area. Again, don't remember who made these suggestions but I sure appreciate it. God Bless.

Bob, Great to hear that you are successful bringing a WC back to good shape. Congratulations!!!
You know when we replaced a ring gear - sometimes in the field - we got the old one off with a chisel then started a fire. We put the ring gear in the fire then when we thought was hot put it on the flywheel. We had to drive it snug but it worked for us.
Thanks again for bringing another Allis Chalmers to life.
Good Luck!
