What would you use for leverage? Not very long.How was it intended to be used? Cheater Bar or pipe to slip over.My brother would probably take a big hammer and smack it to get that nut to loosen.Just curious how it was meant to be used properly.

Pat, I would bet a hammer was most often used. I have a couple big heavy wrenches the have a big end on the handle made for hammering on. Just google "hammer wrench" and you can see what they look like.

I ran across a similar tool in West Virginia several years ago. They were being used by CSX Railroad to tighten the bolts on hook flange guard rails. Made by Snap On. Put 'er on the nut and hammer away. But these had a longer lever than the one Fred has. Bob@allisDowneast

Being I'm built a little close to the ground, I use a giant pipe wrench on that nut when I need to remove that nut. Nothin' like leverage......
