Is it common to have issues with removing the water temp gauges? I'd like to replace one of mine, but it just looks like a problem waiting to happen. Seems like I've read a post about them often being hard to remove without breaking... anybody have any stories or good tips/tricks? |

The problem would be if somebody over tightened it when it was installed. It might be best to cut off the old gauge so you can put a 6 point socket on the hex.

I have removed many that were broken.
An easy out tool has always brought out the broken piece. |

I use a flare-nut wrench. I also warm them up before removing. A few drops of penetrating oil a week ot so before helps too.

JIm, I won't use my flare nut wrenches. They came from Harbor Freight and I think are made to round off the hex. LOL
