This may be a dumb and obvious question, but is the power director clutch in gear. There is a hand clutch lever, usually on the right hand side, unless it is a shuttle clutch, and then it is on the left. It has three positions, forward, middle, and back. Middle is neutral, which will not allow the tractor to move even if it is in gear. Also, there is a bolt inside that may have come out which will let the power director clutch go in neutral and not be able to move the tractor. If the tractor runs, engage the pto and see if the pto moves when the engine clutch is out. If it does, there's something going on with the power director, or hand clutch.

Does it try to kill the engine when you release the clutch like it's binding or loading up? Or does it continue to idle steadily? If it's trying to kill the engine it could be in two gears. The WD I recently bought was hung in 3rd gear, but you could still put it into any other gear but third, and when you did it would load up and try to kill the engine. Had to take cover off trans and line the gears and shifting forks back up. May not be your problem just something I experienced. ( I'm new here & to A-C equipment)
Sorry you posted not running while I was replying. You could pull it with the shifter in say 3 or 4 gear and if it drags the wheels, it could be hung in a gear with the shifter in another gear.????? Just an idea Edited by KY Plow Boy - 05 Oct 2010 at 7:46pm |

if the nut backed off the power director can it be repaired without splitting the tractor?
