Trying to figure some way to get some grease to the steering clutch throwout bearings. My machine has the hose from bevel gear compartment to the bearing, with a wick-type lube setup. I'm sure by now, that wick is dried up to the consistency of a #2 pencil. The hose shown in the parts manual apparently threads into bevel gear housing on one end, and on the other, threads into a street elbow and then to the bearing housing . It appears to have no swivel device on it, so, do you have to remove the bearing to remove this hose? I want to install a grease gun hose into the bearing housing and mount one end on the steering clutch cover so I can lube it.

just cut it and put an 1/8 pipe plug in bevel housing and screw in a new grease hose

Plug that fitting in case , then get a grease gun hose and run from bearing - through plate on steering clutch housng and install grease nipple . can then be greased without having to remove cover or depend on wick
