The only thing on the floor beside the seat that I recall is the emergency/parking brake, as John says, a picture would help.

I think some had rear axle disconnects, but don't remember the location of the lever.
How about having someone wiggle the lever, WITH THE ENGINE OFF, while you are on the ground below the right side of the cab, and look to see where the linkage goes?
