 Topic: "C" engine stuck

A while ago my C got stuck in 3rd gear after many hours of messing with it and some help from you all here on the forum I finally got the tranny gears back where they are suppose to be. Thanks! Now because it has not been started in about a year, the engine is stuck. Is there some "tricks" I can use to get the old girl running again?

I think there is different kinds of stuck. If I were to assume it is simply barn stuck then soak all cylinders with your favorite potion for a while and you might get lucky.

Pull the spark plugs and soak the cylinders with PB Blaster, Aero Kroil or other penetrant. You may have to let it soak for a few days. Pull the valve cover and make sure no valves are stuck. Jack one rear wheel off the ground, put it in third gear and rock the wheel back and forth. Hopefully if no water ha gotten into the cylinders it won't be stuck too bad. Some of the more experienced Forum members may chime in with some better suggestions.

One of my CA's sat for a while, outside, with a can over the muffler, but it got stuck. I put the crank in and gave it a kick and that freed it. Just stuck a little harder then I could turn with the crank. Bob

If you had trouble with the tranny being stuck in3rd, I would jack one back wheel up and with the tractor in "neutral" try and turn the wheel. Just to be on the safe side to make sure you aren't in 2 gears at the same time or something funny with the tranny is"sticking". If it sat for 2 years with the clutch engaged, it might be stuck too, so pushing the pedal down won't free the engine from the tranny. With the trouble you describe you had These are the first things I would do. If all checks out, soak the cylinders. Maybe give them a shot of PB or Kroil every day for a week and then try to bump it free turning the back wheel that is already jacked up. Leave the plugs out till you roll it over the first.

But don't force it over unless you like bent push rods and connecting rods.
