Buried a good friend last week, Hoot Penniston. Came out of the army in 1953 and started working at an allis dealer in argyle wisc. stayed 56 yrs. until they closed last yr. Great person and a wealth of info. He helped and taught me when I was a young guy working there in the 70's. Things like how to install rear main seal in a wd properly, shimming bearings, relining clutches and brakes, checking and setting injectors etc. He was also a 30 yr. member of the fire dept. Member of the rod and gun club and  the list goes on. A real character and wonderful guy, they don't make em like that anymore. One thing he didn't like was the ca handclutch, he always had trouble with them it seemed. One time he told mne there was 2 ways to fix em, either unbolt the handle and hang it on the shed wall or just cut it off with the torch ! Also a whizz on the allcrop and Gehl farm machinery. Well sorry for the long post, just wanted people to know a little about him, I'll miss him terrible. Wonderful family could use a prayer or two. Thanks Frank Oliver

I hate to hear of this loss.

This guy reminds me of an old friend I had in Indiana, except he was a Deere man, and had worked for the dealer for eons. He was an awesome Farmall mechanic too, but knew the old Deere line the best. After he retired, all the farmers kept calling him at home, asking how they could fix their stuff, and he would take the time to patiently teach them how to fix it, unless, of course, he go see them, and help fix the tractor for free!

Sounds like Hoot was quite a guy - sorry to hear that he's no longer with us.
