    Posted: 19 Sep 2010 at 2:42pm
I recently obtained a few oddball New Old Stock (NOS) parts.  Among these parts were a couple of what appear to be brake springs.  Included with the parts was a part tag for part # 222501.  That part number is for a Rear Shoe Spring for a WD & WD45 tractor Brake.  That would seem to be a match but...
I don't have a WD or WD-45 tractor to compare the NOS springs with actual tractor springs.
When I go on-line to compare pictures of aftermarket brake springs I find some pictures that match and others where the hooks are facing in different directions.
Can anyone take a peek at the following pictures and give an opinion as to if these are indeed Rear Shoe Springs for a WD or WD-45 tractor brake?
Thanks!

Yep, that is the spring for the rear shoe, same on D-17 as well.
Front shoe spring number is 232564.

Brian,

Sorry but I'm just trying to be sure that I correctly understand what you've written...

Are you are indicating, after looking at the pictures, that these are indeed pictures of a WD45 brake rear shoe spring.

Thanks!

Scott

All I am trying to do is determine if the pictures I posted really are Part #222501 - a WD Brake Rear Shoe Spring.

The part tag wasn't attached to anything.  It was just in the box with the other stuff.  While it would seem to be associated with the spring I have posted pictures of, the tag could have just got thrown in the box and it may not have anything to do with any of the parts in the box.

As posted in my initial query, I found various pictures on the internet of WD Brake Rear Shoe Springs.  Some of these pictures seemed to match my spring others did not.

Brian may have answered my question but it wasn't clear to me if he was saying, "Yes, those are pictures of a WD Brake Rear Shoe Spring." or if he was saying, "Yes, Part # 222501 is a WD Brake Rear Shoe Spring."

I think Norm was saying that saying that the Rear Shoe Spring and the Front Shoe Spring are different parts.  That's useful information but it isn't what I'm trying to find out.

Please see opening sentence of this reply.

Best regards,

Yes, that is the spring for the rear shoe. The large loop fits the toggle pin and the small loop hooks onto the housing. As I said, the front and rear springs have different part #s. The spring for the front shoe is lighter and the hooks face in opposite directions. Sorry if I wasn't clear in my first post.

Brian,

Thanks!

Communication can be tough.  I was pretty sure that was what you were saying but I wanted to be sure as I will probably put these on eBay or something (I don't have a tractor that these fit on) and I didn't want to misrepresent them.

Best regards,
