That is a thing of beauty! I sure hope they can rebuild her and continue to show them all how it should be done.
Those photos of the driver sitting in the middle of that fireball are a little unnerving. It looks like he is okay, but I bet that was terrifying. It sounds like there was nothing that could be done to stop the meltdown, all he could do was wait for it to self destruct. I can only imagine how disappointed the owner is at this point.

If it weren't for the last minute, I wouldn't get anything done!

This happened at the Fulton Co. Fair pull at Wauseon, Ohio. From what i'm told by folks that were there, the wheels were still turning, wide open, full throttle untill it blew.  The injection pump may have failed, but something also let loose in the clutch area and wouldn't stop.  The only thing holding it back from disaster was the chain on the pulling sled.  If anyone has video of this, please post it.

Scott Diuble (owner): "Thank you to all concerned fans, pullers & tech officials about myself and Pumpkin Gone Mad . I’m fine, the tractor is not. We are disassembling to see just how bad the motor is. This is what we do know: Injection pump stuck open not allowing to idle back down. The air flapper was shut (guillotine style) and the dump valve was pulled (both are always checked before pull by tech officials). Accroding to the computer it ran a total of 48 seconds which 10-12 seconds was the actual pull and the rest was sitting there with the tires spinning. The flash fire was oil residue on manifold after the engine finally sopped running. There are no holes in the block and all the connecting rods are still intact. We are suspecting the engine continued to run on engine oil through a turbo / turbos since we only drained out about one gallon of oil. Again thanks for you support and we will see you back on the track--------someday."
