Thanks guys.....So while daughter Amy was videoing and taking photos...she caught an issue that needs explaining... [TUBE]b9nH7h3lmJw[/TUBE] So the previous owner...John Reyes...explained to me that...while they had a fleet of these HD21s working...this little Cat D6 wouldn't get out of the way....one of his guys accidentally crunched him from behind...munched it all up in there in the front and the blade is all that's showing!
If you're a true AC lover...you'll buy that. Been having trouble getting some photos loaded here.... So...Gerry..the rippers and blade were chained up....they used a big excavator to do that and load it. So if all goes well there is at least one more we are going to get. It will be pushed on with Johns HD16B dozer.

still watching your vids...shucks...you could cut the stuff yer burning into firewood and sell for cordwood building, they want soft woods for that! around here we hafta have burn permits for every brush fire we start, they issue me one good for 6 months at a time. they also call me "pyro". i cut until my back goes out, then quit awhile. i love that brush rake you gots, sure makes things easier! oh...i could send you a bunch of tires to help them piles along! they make good stump burners too....at night! lol

Ok...we had a few minutes the other day so Brannen put some batteries in it...then had to rebuild the starter solenoid to get it to turn over. [TUBE]sa2dcDpinK8[/TUBE]
The previous owner John had sent me a text after I sent him a video of it running...he said the more he thought about it...he thinks it's been more like 25 years that it's been sitting there. So far so good....we didn't try to move it but the hydraulics were working. We need to free up the steering clutch levers and we'll see if it will move.Need to identify which final is bad...John is sure it is the right side....what the heck after 25 years I want to double check!...you know...don't want to amputate the wrong leg by mistake!! Lot of work to get in there. FYI We didn't grind on that starter as much as it looks like....I spliced all those together for the show.
Also we were with out power and wifi here for several days do to a snow storm with about 4-6''...could get this post up.

That` excellent she fired right up. Did she need a touch of ether. Also did you drain out all the old fuel and flush the lines. They have a nice
look to them. You can keep the updates coming as much as possible as there interesting. I don`t have the access to be around that machinery
but I can sure see the amount of work involed with repairs. Thank again

My uncle Ed ran a 69 HD 21 p from 73 till 2000+ when he could not climb on it. The finals where the weakest link on it. Had the same hinge rippers but strait blade. The last time or 2 he was in finals had guy from the oil field come with liquid nitrogen tank and tube of some kind to get bearing on and off. I never saw the way it was all set up. His other words of wisdom was a good torch wrench in inch pounds for the adjustment of preload. He covered city garbage so had a lot of trash rapping and learned to clean often which also helped final longevity.

Ok...To answer a couple of questions... Gerry...didn't do anything with the fuel or filters...has a half tank of fuel..didn't use any either ...actually started to before we got fuel to it then decided not to once it started smoking. We were still operating under the assumption it was running when it was parked. Thomas....Shameless will probably be delivering the tires...so he can pickup his new hat. Ray....Yes the inch pound torque wrench is pretty important...we've done 5..6...9..11s and I think the 21B. One thing I have noticed...the older I get ...I don't mind working on the big stuff...cause its easier to see the big parts LOL.
So were probably getting way ahead of ourselves....but if we can get this final redone and find a canopy....hoping to put a brush rake on it and build some more burn piles for Shameless to drool all over [TUBE]i4C6OZNdhGE[/TUBE]

I spent a lot of hours on a HD21A in the summer of 1971. It started after just bumping the starter. Never saw any other machine that easy.
