Is the screen on a wc oil pump necessary any more? Having trouble getting the wire that holds it on tight enough to hold it on without breaking the wire. New engine and everything is clean on the inside.

I agree with Mack...get you some soft wire that size and then you can easily wrap the wire around the oil pump to hold the screen on, then twist it with a pair of pliers gently, until it's snug on the pump...easy to do. Rick
