Took a break from the forum and come back to find threads now populated with advertising. Don't know who picks the ads with scantily clad ladies, but if I gotta look at something, that is better than most.

Regular computer here W-10 FFox --S'POSED to have all the latest and greatest upgrades, NOW comes all these damn ads!----NOT just on allis forum but on stak, cub forum , bynet, Mtf, and others.
We are still 100% ad free on Machine Builders Network and will continue to be!

YEP........... the computer monitors WHAT YOU LOOK AT and then gives adds related to that... You look at NEW CAR site, and you start getting adds... You look at Purple Wave Auction and you start getting adds... You look at BRAs on You tube and YOU GET ADDS !!!

Most of mine are farm related with an occasional bra ad....... but in my defense I live in a house with now 3 women... two daughters and the wife, was 5 til two moved out. If I were to search for bras..... well I woulda change me name to Loni or Leona or sompin aaaannnddd ifn I was lookin at bra ads for other nefarious reasons I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be the well fed over 50 models they is showin me. Hmmmm I wonder if'n I should restate that last sentence? Well I'm more well fed myself lately and over 50 lately too.

I think for the most part, that is how it works, the spy bots report back to cyber HQ as to where you been (or whoever all has access to your 'puter…..actually, it might be your IP address) and then they broker that info to various vendors that match your habits. You can test it if you wish. Just do some searches for items you would otherwise never look for. pocket knife, parts washer, whatever, and see if you don't start seeing related ads start showing. BTW, I would NOT test it by searching 'baby dolls' or 'Teddy Bears'!

Your the second poster that eluded to such ads  . What are you guys looking up otherwise that brings your "interests" up into an ad ?? What is your browser, Edge, Explorer??

We're using Chrome. All the ads today were for Cub carbs and kits and tractors for sale sites. I was on TSC site for the carbs and that's what keeps popping up

At least I haven't seen any pop up ads on this forum yet. On the shooter's forum I go to sometimes, You will be reading something and an ad will pop up over it. The "X" doesn't show up right away, so you will have to wait a few seconds before you can clear it. You have to be careful or you might open it by accident, that's aggravating. I can live with these ads if it helps pay the bills, just don't let it get worst - Please!

As I see it they are a waste of the time we have here on earth. Just trying to sell anything to anyone stupid and weak enough to be hooked like a fish. Compare to the robo calls. Had three today within 2 minutes. "SOB's" All while I'm trying to make a list for my afternoon business trip, eat a sandwich, tell the wife where I'm headed, and watch Price is Right. LOL

So what rabbit whole is Pauleen trying to take us down ? First time visiting and brings this up to comment on?
I cannot explain or help you get set up, BUT YOU DON"T NEED TO SEE THE ADDS. My son who works computer stuff for a living has add blockers on this machine that keep 99.9% of adds away on my confusser. Now if it could be done for my E mail account. I don't need diet drugs, hair grower, and hearing aids, well maybe I do but sure not buying from the scammers. At least they send the Viagra adds to my wife.
A down side to that is I cannot see some of the links to things out of newspapers stories and such. They always have a button to turn off add blockers which I cannot remember ever doing. I generally have a good idea of what they are going to tell me and garbage less..............add less browsing is so nice. Why chance the add blockers not coming back on.
