I was looking at some picture sketches and was looking for something I would like to use as a header on some letters... and I liked some that I saw, but not exactly what I want to use.  This one had city buildings in it...
This one is of a machine I don't have, and wagons not wanted for my header. But lines I like.

But to have a line drawing like above of the picture below.

Anyone got sketching talents?  Thanks

Just adding a scratch over for amusement...  Sure does not look like the top ones. LOL

Adding 7060's colored version... Very nice. Thumbs Up

And Ted J. did a few that look cool too, this one like an impression print, and...

this one looks like an old brown tone tin type...

Take your favorite picture, to a print shop, and have it half-toned.  Good print shops are becoming rare, though... Kinda a lost art...Wink

Well DJ, there's some truth to that... But like most all big old iron, have since about 1959.
As for them rulers, they can divert your lines real easy, I know, they do it to me too.

Dave, I might have to just ask one them 'art' teachers in school if they got a kid that can create the same kind of art work for a project.

I spent some time and did a trace but it sure doesn't look like the first two pics I posted... Just for your amusement, I will add it in with the other posted pics.

JC that looks pretty darn good and I like it. Maybe try doing it using the side of a sketching pencil with a long sharpened point, but I like what you have.

Take a good bold color picture and lay a piece of light weight printer paper over it and just trace it lightly through the paper with a sharp pencil. You can trace as much or as little detail as you want, then you can copy the sketch. I've done this with various pics and they looked really good.

Yes I’m an artist. With your permission, please give me an hour or so & i’ll see what I can do with your line drawing. It’s a pretty good trace print.
If you’d like something of your dozer “in action”, please let me know(pushing dirt, pushing snow, pulling fresh cut lumber, hauled/loading/unloading from semi trailer, tilling the Wisconsin field hills, building a pond, waterway, freeway, etc.., ???)
The more you describe its surroundings, the better.

Heres my colored pencil version of your trace print.

It was a rainy day here, so I got a little more serious about my artwork. So I revised my original colored version. I added your L's intake, gave it's paint a more authentic(rustic) look, and improved the background to highlight it's snow theme.

7060, that looks really cool colored up... and is more detailed than my scratch... LOL L insignia, top roller,  cab structure seen through the glass.  But I see I forgot to put the intake pipe in the pic. Stern Smile

I took the liberty to copy and move your colorization up to the first post.

The thought had crossed my mind of wondering what it should be doing in the pic, but when the pic was snapped, she was just a queen sitting there running with snow melting on the hood and running off...  Have dragged a number of logs from the woods, up to 5 full length trees at a time.
In it's work life, it was a snowplow crawler with a hydraulic lift on the blade and wings, but the plow was taken off two owners before me. Ouch
The set up would look kinda like this...
Monarch 75 at LeSaure  ... what this one should look and sound like.
[TUBE]29XOF05Qab4[/TUBE]

Thank you for doing the penciling in color.

JC(WI), I added an updated version of your L crawler below my previous post.
That electronic photo version is only about 3% of the original colored drawing size. The forum likes smaller size photo for loading. So if you like it & want to use it, pm me and I’ll mail you my original colored drawing. Your letterhead print shop would like the largest drawing to scan for rendering the best clarity.

7060, I have to agree with Chask there, it just keeps getting better and better.
It  even has the intake now on it.  Glad some body found it and got it put back on. LOL
Ran your pic thru a cropping and took the bottom off and then ran it again for resizing... down to 202 x 107 pixel... did not print it out on a letter head but at this moment, it looks about right size,  I hope. Might take it down wee more if it seems to big when I try it..
Can't crop it any farther, gotta keep the trees looking like trees.

Updated photo from 7060... looks real good.

Thanks so much.  sending pm too.

JC(WI), Glad you like it. It's great to see comparisons. I enjoyed it too.
 Somethings to consider about using artwork for letterheads & the likes;
- a pure white color surround on the artwork allows an easier blend of it onto paper/envelop/label. Thats why I initially just colored the crawler and allowed the background to be more plain(white). My last electronic photo version gave it's whole picture an aged antique look. So if you use that version, it's not going to blend well onto paper(every edge of it will be noticeably abrupt to the eye). It was late in the evening & lighting was not as bright when I took a photo with my phone of that last version. However, the original colored print that I took the phone photo of is still pure white around the crawler, with exception of the background woods. So if I mail it to you, I believe a reputable copy shop could render it as a better transition upon paper than these internet copies.
- most every time a copy is made of an original photo/artwork, it looses some of it's clarity. Whether it's a copier machine, scanner, or phone, I believe the pixel thing is the culprit? HD photos do help, but still some detail is lost in the process. So usually best to initiate final transfers from originals.

Thought I would bring this tot he top to show AC7060's latest rendition couple replies above. Should work excellent on white paper and blend in. Thanks Eric.

Now Desert Joe, "DANG,,JC,,,You are a pretty dang good artist and..."  marginal at best is all it is... and when it comes to drawing people, It'll look like stick figures or a frenkensteins self portrait created by a 4 year old and you don't want to see that.  So just for your amusement I will show you a lackluster doodle... LOL
Upper left s'pose to resemble the old monarch 75 plowin snow early in the morning, lower right s'pose to be plowing at night.... but just couldn't figure out how to turn them headlights on to show them working. LOL

No Ted, she would turn out to be a frankienmoo...

And your observation of 7060's signature was just about what I thought too, very nice penmanship.  Just on Monday, I made a comment about signing names and that some people can sign their name repetitiously hour after hour and you would swear that they were rubber stamped, but they weren't and I can't sign my name twice anywhere close to the previous one, they will be so different.
