Hi, I'm new to this forum. I currently own 2- WD's, a "B" and a D12. I am trying to remove the camshaft from my WD as the gear teeth are gone that drive the oil pump. I have everything removed but the cam. It moves out about 3/8" and stops? Is there any secret clips that im missing or can i just maybe slide hammer it out?
Any help would be greatly appreciated |

Do you have the oil pump removed and is the block inverted or are you holding the 8 cam followers (lifters) away from the cam with magnets or dowels? You should not need a slide hammer to remove the cam.

Ok im an idiot, my very first lifter had crept down and was catching. i had a crappy little magnet on it and cloths pins on the rest. Im to quick to ask before checking thoroughly.
1 more question though, when i install the magneto housing again does that gear need to be timed with the cam?

You can Download this manual.
Use the Download Button at the top left of page. I know it says Allis-Chalmers-B but it has the WD and WD 45 in it to. HTH

I don't know if there is a mark on the governor gear to time it, but the drive slot for the magneto HAS to be HORIZONTAL, when the engine is at TDC of cylinder 1 compression stroke. |

If you are using a distributor, no need to time the governor.
