Hello to all. I am new to the forum but not new to Allis tractors. I grew up a 175 and D17 IV on a small beef farm in central MO. I recently purchased a 6080 (picture is attached if I did it correctly) and need assistance with the PTO. When the PTO disconnect lever on the left below the seat is disengaged the tractor will start but when it is in gear with the PTO Clutch on the right disengaged and touching the two sensors/switchs below the tractor will not start. Any thoughts/suggestions is greatly appreciated. Do i need to switch th sensor/switch below the main PTO disconnect of the left? Thanks for your help and all enjoy reading the forums on the Allis page.

Why do you want to start the tractor with it engaged? It is hard on the PTO to leave the handle pulled back all the time and will cause excessive wear.

Charlie - I do not leave the left PTO disconnect lever engaged all the time ony when I am using the PTO on frequently during the day. When I have the left PTO disconnect level disengaged then I leave the PTO clutch forward to prevent possible problems that may occur as you stated. I am just looking to get it fixed. Thanks.

It sounds like you need the switch below the disconnect (on the left side of the seat). You can try unplugging it and running a jumper wire to act as if that switch is making contact. Also, as you probably know, the foot clutch must be pushed in all the way too. Sometimes the switches just need to be adjusted with the locking nuts that hold them in place.

ours acts up sometimes. if it will not start, i disengage the clutch, start the engine and quickly pull the seasonal disconnect in gear before the gears have time to start spinning. i've adjusted the switches a couple times but it seems to always act up at some point.

Adam,
we recently had the same problem, it would start normal with the left lever disengaged and the PTO lever forward (when you're not using the PTO every day). It would not turn over at all the other way. The only thing wrong with ours was a rusty connection on the safety swith below the platform.
