I am planning to soon replace the manifold on my WD including the manifold studs as well. I am aware that some of the studs go through the water jacket and require sealant on them during installation. My question is for the fellas out there that have done this before and especially for those that have done so multiple times. What would you guys say is the best product to hold up in this particular application?? Is it alright to just use any brand RTV silicone rated for coolant use or should I really look for something more specific for this job?? TIA guys.

Anything is better than nothing. You could still have some seepage, but leave it alone and it will soon rust over and quit leaking.

I used #2 permatex no issues.
For the studs. I recommend getting them from steiner's. They actually have the correct ones. I bought from other vendors and they were just generic auto studs. The correct ones you can thread finger tight all the way into the block for a good seal. the generic ones, you have to just thread them partially in until you have the correct amount of threads for the nut.
 
You'll re-torque them 2-3 times after running a few times until they finally stop moving.

Never seize the studs then two wraps of thread tape and bingo no leaks + easy removal
1953 WD, 1953 WD, WD engine with WD-45 crankshaft.
