yeesh, not the flaming, idiotic over 'engineered' cruise control master cylinder switch again ??
I designed and replaced mine in the 97 then 3 years later Ford replaced what I did with their version. THAT was an idiotic, over 'engineered'  cure that, well..ISN'T a cure for the problem...

BTW my way cost me less than a buck, Ford's was 100s of dollars......

Read it is from the block heater wiring and some corrosion, only happens when plugged in. This is what I read.

Several years ago, while I was sitting in my office at the car dealership, there was a ferd pickup sitting outside my office. Guys were trying to trade it in. I noticed smoke coming out from under the hood. We raised the hood and sure enough there was that cruse control unit on fire. Several years earlier, One of my employees bought a full size ferd van had it several months, sure enough ignition switch caught fire and burnt it out. Of course no insurance.

I have a 17 Ford 150 and now have three recall notices, 1) block heater wire 2) seat belt tensioner fire hazard 3) door latch that may allow door to come open when driving.  Have not gone in for them to be fixed yet, notices seem to be two months apart.

Saw one in hardware store parking lot burn, it was parked next to mine. We just got out and started to walk away when my wife looked back and saw smoke form something, I ran back and moved our diesel before the flames erupted. The whole front end burned off before FD arrived! Thanks; ac fleet

A friend had his F150 burn and the WORSE part was he couldn't get his case full of notes/dwgs out of it. As a master timber framer from Germany his notes WERE his business. Oh yeah...camera gone  as well.....and, to add insult to injury... he had to cover the difference between the insurance value and the loan value...

Ford did repalce the gas tank straps for me, safety issue but NOT the tie rod ends! They fall out..not a safety issue ??

#2 yes....

..... During a crash, a device called a pretensioner uses an explosive charge to lock the seat belt in place. The company said the device may generate excessive sparks. Ford will
fix the problem for free and said in a securities filing the recall would cost about $140 million....

Yeah and it seems to be more frequent all the time now.
If we could only get rid of all the computer krap, the plastics, and other cheap junk from China, we could maybe have a good car again....maybe...

Yeah cuz my GMC didn’t freeze and brea....oh yeah, it did! Sorry, I was thinking about how awesome the bumper is. No wait, that’s not it either, that’s made of foil. Must be how I like how the seat makes you feel pitched forward and how the seatbelt rides up your neck and “catches” at the sight of a sparrow flying by. No, that doesn’t sound nice either. Hmmm...let me think about why they’re better and I’ll get back. Sure as hell isnt the ingenious routing of the brake lines!!!
