What do you all treat your flat bed trailer wood deck with so it preserves it?
And how do you apply it? Thanks Pastor Mike |

Old weed sprayer with used black diesel engine oil thinned just enough to spray out the nozzel... Did that to the manure spreader for years and years. Sure helped keeping the chit from freezing to the wood so hard...and did the chains and slats too.worked great on the hay wagons too....

I use used motor oil also, but you gotta watch it when the deck is wet, you can bust your can.

Built shed over 20 year ago and boadred up and down.Sprayed with diesel fuel and clorox. 50/50. Oil preserves and clorox kills fungus. Still looks good.Put on two coats with hand spray.

+1 for used motor oil, touch of diesel to thin, roll it on in the sun in light coats until it starts taking a while to soak in

I have been very happy with used hydraulic oil. It generally doesn't have the carbon in it like used motor oil does, so the color of the wood stays lighter.

The caution for used motor oil is the Lead and other contaminants in it, leaves the wood nasty when wetted, IF someone were to get nosey could hold up a sale as to lead contamination. Not much from bearings but if is in the wood then the wood becomes hazardous materials to be gotten rid of. The laws are getting that stupid.

I built a trailer a few years ago and I put on several coats of cheap but new Ford auto tranny oil. It sure did have a pretty pinkish shine for a few years.
