SHEEEE---it,,!!!  whoa,,$56,000,,,I ain't seen today's paper yet but it must be a misprint,,,,or a conglomeration of oil companys around here. The refinery I retired from always contributes a very handsome amount towards the kid's projects in the Eddy County fair,,,,and,,,,that must of  been the ceo's kin,,,??  Ummmm,,never mind,,,,,Wink

That steer is right up there with that $32,500 subsoiler that was on here a week or so ago.  However they won't drop the price by $32,200 to sell it.  I am sure a conglomerate bought that and it will either be auctioned off piece by piece and donated to charity or it will be donated to a food bank.  Great PR for the company or companies that bought it.

The fair here just end, by what is in the paper 70 steers averaged $5900. The last 4 maybe 5 years some foundation from Santa Barbara area has been putting minimum price in for every kid and then donating the meat to feed the poor and homeless.

There is one mini mart/gas station deli place that has been buying a creator or 3 at the fair and advertise all year your buying food from prize winning animals.

A guy my son helps out had been buying rabbits and chickens from the fair for the big bucks. Last year me took the rabbits live and had my son help and they "harvested" a dozen or more one evening. Then he paid my son by giving him part of the rabbits. Son brought it here to cook so we had $500 rabbit,an it tasted just like rabbit. I don't know what was wrongConfused that it didn't taste different.LOL

So Shamelesss don't be to upset Crywith Joe if them steaks Joe brings don't taste like you think $50,000 should.LOL

several of the BIG fancy steak houses in Omaha would always bid agin each other on them fair auctions, then they would serve the meat to their customers. and Ray is right, they don't taste any better/worse than any other animal's meat. but it was good advertisement for the steak houses. and was a great support/incentive for the 4-H and FFA kids to work with their animals more!

I will say this,,,,when I was still gettin paid for workin,,the refinery I worked for had bought a small refinery in Great Falls, Mt,,actually in a suburb named Black Eagle. I would get sent up there to assist with their Shutdowns for bout 2-3 weeks. There was this steak house there that served the absolute tenderest steaks I've ever ate. Bout 1 1/2" thick and fork tender,,,!! There were people that traveled from all over,, even CANADA to eat there.. I cannot remember the friggin name but I'm bettin somebody here knows bout them.
