Just purchased a few more new Ferds for the fleet. Guy that got this one brought in the old truck and switched all his gear over into it and when he was leaving the yard he got side swiped by a car that crossed over into his lane. 37 total miles and a $17000 repair estimate. ![]() Edited by Butch(OH) - 29 Jun 2018 at 5:33am |

Was a time you coulld buy a house for what a pickup costs now .
Remember I bought a New 65 Olds Cutlass Convert 442 - cost me $3400 - next year I was at dealership visiting my brother who worked there as a mechanic . Same salesman offered me a 66 Olds 442 convert for $1800 and mine in trade . Brother mentioned he had just bought a new 66 Chev 10 series pickup for $2000 (3 speed column 283 V8) . So for $200 more than the trade i could have 2 vehicles . Odd 10 years later he sold me the pickup for $300 - I used it for 2 years and sold it for $500 - Other thing I still have that 65 Olds 442 - guy offered me $13,000 for it but turned it down - just something about having my first new vehicle still around is kind of comforting |

I have my brothers sales receipt when he bought the 1970 Chevelle SS with the 396 in it and I believe it was just under $3000.

One thing is for sure I bet his gear is nice and organized now that he has moved it twice in one day.

What a shame! Did he load the stuff back into his old truck? Sure doesn't look like $17 grand in damage to me but I'm not a body man. Did you scratch the name off the photo or did the car damage it? Edited by JohnCO - 30 Jun 2018 at 7:47pm |

Dang! I'd be telling the other guy's insurance, "Congratulations you just bought a new red truck with only 37 miles on it!"

ONLY 17K damage ? Easy call if it's aluminum parts, if steel 17 it is way too high. Sure hope the other guy has insurance.

We bought our first home in the spring of '67 on a land contract, $1000 down, $6500 payments of $65.00 a month.

I paid more for my car last year than I paid for my house in 1978. Ouch.

That's awesome that you still have your very first new car....and the fact that it's a 442 is even cooler yet! Darrel |
