I was just wondering how many people are still putting up hay with a Rotobaler. I ran 125 through mine Friday in a little over an hour and it never missed a beat.

Someone on here quoted an AC engineer as saying the reason they didn't pursue the large round baler market was they had paid out so much in injury lawsuits on the small baler they couldn't imagine what it would be like if they made it bigger.JP

I'd love to be putting up some Roto-baler bales! Just need to get mine whipped into shape and then get out into the field. I figure about a month's work outa do it!

I've got 2 roto-balers, but have never made a bale with either of them. I keep saying that next year I'll get one of them going, but seems like next year never comes. Maybe there is a chance that I'll do something with one of them this year, Darrel

Yes, I we still use one from time to time for the fun of it. I do know of one older farmer who still does. I knew of a few others that were doing it full time yet, but I'm not sure anymore. They have an amazing capacity. Heres a pic and a video of one of ours running. Actually this machine is the first piece I ever bought in my collection. My cousin and I bought it when I was 15. there was a guy by new glarus wis. that always made his last harvest of the year with the roto baler ..left the bales in the field ..and in the winter turned his beef cows out to eat .. once they started on a bale they finished it before moving on to a new one ...

We run ours. It still needs a lot of tweeking though. That is going to be the next piece of equipment to be tore apart and restored.

Hope to have ours going for the local show in August, last couple of years we baled with a stationary baler. I think that forking on to a roto-baler will be alot easier than up in to a stationary. Any tips I need to get this thing working again?

Good springs everywhere is probably the most important followed closely by removing the rust from smaller moving parts. The pivots for the twine tube latch and conveyor dog are 2 that can haunt you if they don't move free and easy. Also remove your twine disc and shine them up and make sure it turns free as well.

Did anyone on this forum buy that one on Ebay about a month or so ago??? It was one of the last one, had all the safety stuff on it, still had all the paint on the pickup!! Really a nice buy for someone!! Ryan

I still use mine every year. I usually only make 500 or so bales though. This year I have more hay acres so I will probably be making more with her. Joe

Chris, as soon as I can find one and get it back to the farm it is going to be my baler of choice. I would have round than square for my alfalfa.
