The Carlinville FFA Alumni had our 3rd annual tractor drive today to benefit the Carlinville H.S. FFA chapter.  We gather at an old, partially occupied shopping center at the north end of town, get organized, then drive to McClintock's, a restaurant & bar north of Standard City, IL.  It's about 11 miles.  Some of the "older" readers might remember Pocklington Bros. Seed Corn Co.  McClintock's is at the old seed house & warehouse.  We have lunch, the FFA kids sell tickets for raffle items, & we visit & talk tractor talk.  Everyone pays $5 to join the tractor drive.  My tractors are stored at a farm 3 miles south of McClintock's so I drove a 1950 WD into town to join the tractor drive.  As I was driving into town I met a WD with loader heading out to the country.  As we passed I almost forgot it's not the 1950's anymore!  LOL!!!  My old WD performed just fine today.  Participation was down.  Last year we had 73 tractors.  Only had 52 today.  Obviously we need to do more promotion for next year.  It was still a good time.  Best of all, we have a number of young people participating!
