    Posted: 02 Apr 2017 at 5:34pm
I bought a 1939 Allis B today that has an adjustable wide front and riveted rims. How common are these wide fronts? What years did they put these on the B's?? I posted a picture of the wide front. Thanks Zach

I don't know much about them either. I've only seen 1 before that one.

Those were used from 1938 until the square style adjustable front came out in 1940.

Thanks MNLonnie for that info. Do you know how many B's had this frontend?

There probably weren't any records of how many were adjustable and how many were not.

There is a chance the B parts book would hint at the serial number range for each design of wide front. The G, B/C and CA shop manual I have on line shows only the later adjustable wide front, not the wishbone style.

I bought a B with that axle several years ago.  Started out for sale on CL in Denver but was sold when I called, a few weeks later it was for sale in near Colorado Springs for $200 bucks more.  Finally talked to the wife, said "come get it for the original price, I'm tired of it sitting on the trailer in the street."  Husband was a bit upset as he had spent a day getting it out of the back yard in Denver.  I used a come along to tow it onto my trailer.  Gave her the money and a jar of our Peach jam.  Made her happy at least.
