I just took the carb off my 1945 b cause it was acting funny and surging. It has been rebuilt using the new needle valve with the viton tip. These things are a pain cause they will swell with certain solvents and additives. Also it was put back together with hex head screws instead of the regular screws. Any idea if I can get the old completely metal needle valve and the original style screws and where could I get them if still available?

I can't speak for the brass valve, but the screws (bowl screws?) are ordinary machine screws and should be available at just about any good hardware store or auto parts house. They are a fillister head if I recall.
Do you have the "anti surge" spring between the throttle shaft and one of the manifold studs? Without it the engine will definitely surge while running. |

Yeah I do have the spring. It has been surging since I had gotten it running again after I purchased the tractor from the last owner. I took the carb apart and found the viton needle valve had swollen a bit restricting the fuel.
