 Topic: AC 190 oil pump gear failure?

Are there different drive gears for the oil pump on a 190 diesel? I think we have a new style camshaft mated to old style oil pump...anyway oil pump gear failed after a few hours, camshaft gear looks o.k., oil pump gear is ruined...so now what to do?

That engine series never really had an issue with those gears wearing out. So, makes you think there was a flaw in your gear (heat treat or pressed on in the wrong position?). I also can't believe your camshaft gear didn't suffer damage of some kind.

This situation sucks, not sure how much of the engine is damaged, nothing seized, engine stalled under load, that's when we discovered no oil pressure, we immediately restarted engine, started up, but no oil pressure. Pulled pan, gear shavings in oil, everything else looks o.k...

Got a 180 puller that does that, if you stall it, or stops abruptly as in I ran it out of fuel once at a high rpm, started it back up and oil light was on, took all the teeth off the oil shaft gear

Which really makes no sense. Run it out of fuel and the oil pump teeth are gone?? The fact is, those engine are not known for this type of failure on a farm tractor, and I've known several pulling engines that have never had an issue either. Now, if you're running 40 wt oil with STP in it, that's the cause of gear teeth failure.

Sorry , I have left info off this post that should be added to it ; it was under high RPM,S prolly 4500, and it didn't run out of fuel per say ; the Roosa 450 pump head locked up because of poor design at 220 lbs of imput pressues !! it happened, just lucky to catch the light staying on so long to address the problem and it was the oil pump gear teeth were sheard off
, which should not of happened on a farm tractor ,

Pretty sure AGCO won't have any new pumps. Might have a new gear. Call your Dealer.

I would check end play on camshaft. Have saw cam gear try to pull off (before bolt was put in front of cam) from heavy springs and hi RPMs.
