Calling all B experts, buddy of mine just called and some how he manged to get his B transmission stuck in 3rd gear and can not get it out.  He has the side cover off and can not get the gear to move on the shaft and back into position.  Any suggestions or anyone have this problem in the past and know how he should proceed to get his tractor to shift.

Thanks

Wil

Just had that with my donor B, sprayed with Liquid Wrench and used a wood dowel and a hammer to move the gear.  A large screw driver might work or a small bar. Tell him to be careful with the cover, it is cast.

Had the same problem with my WD.  Took everything apart, found nothing, still could not move the shif lever.  Light tap on the housing with a rubber mallet and it was free.  That said, there was some very light rust in a few areas and we decided some rust fell into the end of the stick so we cleaned or replace everything.  Once it's open, the replacement parts in there are pretty reasonable for price and easy to get back together.  I had a friend help with my rebuild and it took him about an hour.  This was just the gear shift box, not the whole tranny.  Then we welded up the end of the stick for tighter shifting.  All in we had about 5 hours and under $100 for (new) parts.  My advice, take everything apart, clean it, replace anything that looks worn, it's well worth it.

Good Luck,
Don
