I bought a 7060 that had been sitting for a long time, other than that, the condition was unknown except the standard "ran when parked" story. After quite a bit of work, I got the motor running again, and it runs pretty good. However, when I attempted to drive it around, it moved fine for a minute or two, then stopped moving. If I put the PD foot peg in the high side, the tractor will move, but the peg slowly falls back down, and if I leave it in low, it doesnt move at all. There isnt much resistance to the pegs. Oil level is where it should be, and it looked fine, but I havent flushed it or changed fluid/filters or anything like that. Could that be the problem? or what serious work/$$ issue am I looking at next?
Any ideas/things to check are appreciated. |

I checked below the seat in the cab and in the sight-glasses in the rear-end.

Change the trans oil and filter, also remove the square cover off the bottom of the rear main housing and take the gerotor pump screen off and clean it too. Any debris from the trans winds up in the bottom where the gerotor pump is so you want to check it as its an unknown. It sounds to me like the low range piston seal is old and hard and wont flair out to hold oil, so low range seems like its not working. I dont know why the high buttom creeps down, might be something in the valve. Also does the 1800 rpm lite in the cab work??? That can tell you if trans pressure is to low if the lite comes on above 1800 rpm. Could be the gerotor pump is getting weak too. HTH |
