Figures, new project and I feel like im in over my head!

I probably should have taken pics, But on the bottom on the carb (zenith) there are 2 valves, one around where the line from the little tank and one in the back around the line from the main tank... I ASSUME these are for switching between starting, and all day running one its warm correct?

Now as far as running it, the "old tractor guru" in town that I get some parts from says dont run it with anything but a 50/50 mix of diesel and kerosene seems odd as diesel and kero are so close. Unless he was meaning #1 diesel? Virtually the same as kerosene if not the same thing. Something to do with flash point maybe?

Put gasoline in the big tank and run it all day without switching. The guys across the pond seem to run fuel, but they have a great price difference from us.
