Our #3 Son came to visit Tuesday from El Paso, Tx and while he has never been an alarmist, he tells us that there is one possible case of the Coronavirus in Juarez, Mexico and status will be verified by Sunday after further testing. He tells me there is not a bottle of the hand Sanitiser in all of El Paso,,!!  I had not been too concerned before but maybe we ALL  need to be more cognizant and practise better health cleanlyness till the authorities get a handle on this bug.  We went and checked in every store in our town and there is not a bottle to be found,,,and all the store mgrs have no idea when they will be getting some more. Even Walmart  has concerns about any short term future deliveries.
What I did was get a couple bottles of Isopropyl Alcohol and glycerin and made me an "Across The Tracks" potion,,,,I was pretty proud of myself till I went to pick up the wife at Dialysis and mentioned to the nurse and she suggested plain old Hydrogen Peroxide,,,,,,? She also said to use Hydrogen Peroxide to clean up blood on clothes,,,,who knew??

The doctor at the CDC said the BEST thing you can do is wash your hands for 20 seconds with HOT water and SOAP............ of course, that assumes you are by a sink !
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Hey Steve,,,just as a matter of habit,,,I actually wash my hands several times a day after using the Orange hand cleaner then go inside and wash in the sink with soap and water as the wife do not likes the gasoline small on my hands. Don't think I do it for 20 whole seconds tho,,,,I am slowly but surely weaning her from wantin to eat out as I think those are one of the places that accelerate the spread of any of those diseases.
I was just reading that the CDC has some great recipes for your home made sanitizer mixes,,,Clap

Nope, Hydrogen Peroxide is #1 on the list for killing germs.  #2 is vinegar and #3 is alcohol,,,,,,,which kills bad stuff inside also....Wink
And YES to cleaning blood RIGHT AWAY.  It doesn't work so good after it dries in....
A little homework on the Coronavirus, it's not as bad as the media makes out.  (They just want the stock market to crash.)  More people have died from the ordinary flu than the Corona.  I asked the local expert in everything,,,,,,,my local bartender.Big smileWinkBig smileWink

I had the flu that was going around over Christmas and New Years of this last year.
That was a real butt kicker. Started with sinus and then to major chest congestion.
Couldn't lay down for a couple of days cause I couldn't breath. Doc gave me some antibiotics and after coughing up a bucket full of crud I was better in a couple of days.

In the last 2 weeks a dozen people have died from the Coronus virus... YESTERDAY over 100 people died from the flue... EVERY DAY... put that in perspective. ........ TED is right, the MEDIA is blowing this way out of proportion.

Is that a he, or the woman who was telling people not to touch your face, then licked her finger to turn the page?

One of those things that is factually correct, but virtually impossible to do. Might reduce the frequency some, but a person is likely to touch their face absent minded several times a day. Me, I have allergies 365 days a year that makes my nose itch. Not relenting to itching my nose ain’t going to happen!

All true, but also consider two more factors. First fatality rate rather than raw numbers, and more so, this is a novel virus, really just getting started. No proof it’s going to peter out in the summer like flu does. In short, too early to tell how it compares directly with flu.

T-Bone, neighbor says when your nose itches, somebody's talkin about you...  You must have a lot of people talking about you at that rate... Wink   LOL

Trouble with this coronus V is the fact that it really kills the old people that don't have real good immune systems.
And I doubt that they really have an all exclusive detector of detecting all CV's in every stage of it.... to be able to separate the carriers from the non-carriers.... jmo

Probably true JC.

Must be a regional thing though....around here, if your nose itches it means you’re going to kiss a fool. Y’all can say whatever you want about me, but please leave the wife out of it, she’s a saint.

When your ears are ringing, that’s when somebody is talking about you!

Now we got a confirmed one here Friday. The 60-some year old male was on a Mexican cruise ship and came back 2-25. 24 others from the cruise and back here supposedly tested negative.  BUMMER

Steve is correct about the hand washing, also don't be around people whom you don't specifically need to be around. The ins and outs of the corona virus are still being researched but the "news" media has blown it way out of proportion and some people are going plumb crazy about it. Keep in mind that the WHO and CDC need to have a new boogabear every few years so they can keep their funding up.
Just an old country boy saved by the grace of God.

Medical lab scientist here....True that this is a novel strain not seen in humans before, but there are several other strains of coronavirus that routinely make people sick. Just because it's "different" freaks people out. The thing with new strains is there is no "herd immunity" built up yet, until a bunch of people have it and recover it seems worse because more people actually show symptoms. All viruses going around were this way at one time, in fact the Spanish flu pandemic of 1918 was H1N1 influenza-sound familiar? That's because H1N1 is also the "Swine flu" we had back in 2014. There's no way to stop these viruses, they will spread no matter what until that herd immunity kicks in either naturally or by vaccine, needless quarantines just slow them down a bit. Wash your hands and go on with your life.....
