I feel more than a little stupid for asking this, but I am unsure how to remove the cap from the Fairbanks Morse X magneto on my B. When I remove the 4 screws and pull at the cap, it will not come completely free from the magneto frame. I can get about a 1/2" gap between the cap and mag but that is all. I think that there may be a release tab on the inside, or I just have to remove the rotor first somehow? I didn't yank too hard on it because I didn't want to break anything and have to pay for new parts!
I found some diagrams of FMJ magnetos but none of the FMX. It seems that the FMJ cap just comes free but the FMX has a different enough design that I am confused... any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The end cap is removed first with the wires on it. (two screws) Remove the rotor, and then you're lower cover will lift off. The rotor is holding it on...

Okay, makes sense. Anything special about removing the rotor, or do I just pull it straight off?

Pull it straight up. Some of them are tough to get off. Don't pry it with a screwdriver. They break easy, then you'll need a rotor. If you need any parts for it, I'm a Fairbanks dealer. Have a lot of parts in stock.......
