Its a jacobsen-so its mostly orange. Fuel tank (diesel) is a moulded plastic of some sort. Has three moulded-in female threaded inserts to take instrument panel. Of course, smart engineering has guaranteed bolt to seize into the inserts. New tank is an arm and a leg. Dug them out (tank is still not pierced)-any ideas of the type of glue (or other technique) to basically refit new inserts in the gouged out holes. Any help or ideas appreciated.

Many of the tanks are polypropylene material and there is only one glue out there but it will only join poly to poly and then I would not trust it to much .
The only other thing is a weld with poly rod and air torch to direct the heat to base metal and rod to fill in holes , then trying to weld inside a hole is another problem.
This is all if it is poly, which I think it is. I did a lot of welding on both poly and PVC and it makes a surprisingly strong weld if done right.

How about a helicoil or threaded insert with the locking fingers you drive down after screwing them in. Mcmaster Carr has them.

i my self would take it to your local body shop and have epoxy put in it it is strong enough to hold entire body panels on when set it will hold your inserts....our shop guys use it a lot on bumpers and panels...we tested it with two steel plates and two chains pulling on the and you would not believe how much force it takes to separate it... 3m makes it....just fyi
