Bought my first Allis tractor of the year, a 1948 G. Also got two basket weeders, plow, lots of parts, 2 rear tires, engine...and some other non AC stuff at an auction today. Lots and lots of Planet Jr stuff but all I did was run it up. Pics later...

There were two G's for sale, this one sold first, has hydraulics and near new rear tires plus the cultivator. I gave $2000 for it. Dead battery, but we pull started it and it runs strong. The next one didn't run, but supposedly didn't have many hours on an overhaul...no hydraulics or implements, tires fair $1750.
Lots of interest in the G's today!

Also ran up a nice looking, good running tight 715B backhoe to $2500.....it had tranny troubles and wouldn't move. Could have been a great deal, could have been a money pit......

You are getting a slow start adding to the workforce this year. The 715B sounds like a deal. Transmission could just be low in fluid. Engine has to run and the oil level checked immediately after shutting off the engine. If you check the oil after sitting for a while, it may still be low. I've had a 715B for 25 years and they are bullet proof.

Why does it have a hand lift leaver and hydraulics?
A muffler like that will break the manifold sooner or latter. I've got one from TSC for sale. It Broke mine, even through I had it braced. Dusty |

I was going to crow about the 120 acres seeded in one long, long day with our overhauled, modified, souped up HD11 but those pictures just make me smile, thanks!

Great find Eldon. The cultivator is interesting. We did not sell these in Maryland.
Did your G have all four speeds working? Nice looking unit. Good Luck! Bill Long |

The lever is piggy-backed in the system. The hand crank depth screw is not there, I'm thinking they use the hand lever for downpressure. I haven't tried it out yet, it has a dead battery....
Good point on the muffler....but it sounds so good!

C'mon, there's really a G under all that apparatus? Amazing how that little engine carries what looks like the Brooklyn Bridge around on top of it! No wonder the Battery is dead. Would take ya two days to get to it!
